I’m a huge proponent of traveling. I mainly like to travel for vacation throughout the country with my family. It’s a great chance for my family to bond and enjoy each other’s company. We’ve taken many trips, from the Coast of Maine to the forests of Maryland and each one has been better than the last. If you’re like me, then you understand the importance of getting away from the stress of life and work and unwinding with your family. With Valentine’s Day a little less than a month away, I figured I would highlight some fantastic destinations where you and your significant other can spend some time together.

Puerto Rico

Valentine’s Day has the unfortunate distinction of taking place smack dab in the middle of the Winter. With all of the cold weather, gloomy skies and mountains of snow you’ll be sure to get, why not take some time and fly over to Puerto Rico and enjoy the sunny, warm beaches? Because the island is a US territory, there is no need for a passport and flights are typically not too expensive. Take a trip to San Juan where you can wine and dine in the afternoon and visit the thriving club scene at night. And before you leave, make sure to visit Bioluminescent Bay in Fajardo. Teaming with microscopic bacteria that glow and shimmer in the night, Bioluminescent Bay is something straight out of a fantasy!

Denver, Colorado

It may not seem like the most obvious of destinations for Valentine’s Day, but Denver has quite a few tricks up its sleeve. The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa celebrates love the entire month long with historic stories of celebrities that have celebrated their love at the hotel and a chocolate brunch and spa treatment that are both sure to have you falling in love with the hotel itself. Top off the visit with a trip to the Loveland ski slope where you can take your admiration for your spouse to new heights, literally.

New York City

For anyone who has ever visited The Big Apple, it should come as no surprise that the city is chock full of just about anything and everything. Take a stroll through Central Park in a horse-drawn carriage or go sightseeing at some of the city’s most historic landmarks. You could end the night with a stay at the Hotel Gansevoort where you can indulge in the hotel’s delicious selection of chocolates and bask in the heated rooftop pool’s warm embrace.

Make this Valentine’s Day one to remember and visit another state, city or county; whatever it takes to make the night special, just go out and do it!
